Call & Response
Why do things happen the way they do? Why is anyone motivated to get up and go to work or anything else? I stopped contributing to this blog 2-3 years ago. Why? Because nobody noticed. Then something happened. A friend came up to visit and asked me "What the 'poop' happened to BreakfastGravy? I still check for new posts and I'm constantly disappointed." Minus the fact that it took over 2 years for someone to say this to me, it motivated me to ignite the power that is BreakfastGravy.
This brings me to my next thought. What motivates us? I am a musician (among other things) and play in a rock band that is not very active. We have been working on our 2nd album for about 4 years and haven't played a show in over a year. It was my artistic outlet into the world. BreakfastGravy was and now is my eternal conversation with world.
Call + Response = Motivation
I received a response about BreakfastGravy and that made an action to create a new blog entry.
I have not played a show with Look Alive so I have no possibilities of a response.
This situation blows! I want to keep writings songs and writing blogs and sculpting bonsai's and creating different comic book hero regardless if anyone notices or not, however I'm not sure that it can be done.

"What motivates us?"
Great question. The simplest and most general answer is our individual values. These are the intrinsic qualities of our life that cause us to act.
Motivation implies that we are capable of perceiving a particular state of affairs if only we were capable of acting toward those ends. We consider that life could be better if only we acted though we may not know exactly what action to take. Motivation is the emotional driving force of action.
Many derive their motivation from their religious and spiritual feelings. How ever motivation is acquired it is as varied as individuals themselves.
Just to give myself credit-I remember asking you about the Breakfast Gravy blog too!
As for motivation: why do you think you quit writing the blog, and why have you not played a show in a long time? You might find that your motivations are mixed.
